Students must prepare and present a 7-10 minute, formal oral presentation as an analysis of his/her process and self growth from topic selection through project completion. The presentation is given in front of a Review Panel of Judges.

The judging panel has the same “oral presentation evaluation” form provided through this web site.  Students are graded on several different criteria that fall under one of three main categories: Content, Verbal and Non-Verbal Elements.  Each criteria has a maximum of 5 points.  Students need to score a 42 or higher to successfully pass the presentation.

Presentations are made during the Fall Semester of the Senior Year (between November and February).  If a student fails to pass the presentation portion, they have another chance to present again in the Spring Semester before graduation.  Judges will give descriptions of the areas that a student needs to work on (or change) to successfully pass the presentation.

The steps for presentations, are as follows:

• Students set up visual aids, equipment, materials and their “product” before their assigned presentation time. (If students use their “set up time” during their assigned presentation time, points will be deducted. See “Non-Verbal Elements” in the "Tips to a Successful Presentation" PDF)
• Students give their 7-10 minute presentation in front of a judging panel, hitting criteria areas in a PRESENTATION CHECKLIST.
• Students answer any questions from the judging panel that helps clarify information given during the presentation.
• The Judging Panel will give their evaluation and comments after all participants have completed their presentations.  Students need to remove all materials from the site following the question and answer session.

A simple guide to presentations:

1. Give your audience a “glimpse” or brief synopsis of what they are about to hear.  Introduce yourself. (Introduction)
2. Tell your audience the information (Body)
3. Repeat and summarize what they heard. (Conclusion)
