Knightdale High School Art TeacherWelcome to Mr. Dalton's Web page. Currently I teach Computer Art and Visual Art. I attended Kutztown University of Pennsylvania where I attained a B.S. in Art Education. This website will provide you with information regarding class documents, special events and most importantly student work. Please keep updated on student grades that are posted on SPAN on a weekly basis. I can be reached through email or by school phone: cdalton@wcpss.net Need Art Supplies? Each class has unique items necessary for the class. See the class web page for more details about the class. Most items can be bought within the Knightdale community. For more specific items visit Jerry's Artarama for the best prices on art supplies in the Raleigh area. Smart StartStudents will be required to complete tutorials or make up work during Smart Lunch that carry a F or D average. Tutorials will be held everyday except on Wake Wednesdays. SketchbooksEach student is required to maintain a sketchbook throughout each course. They will utilize the sketchbook for note taking, writing responses and reflections, brainstorming, preliminary drawing, developing visual vocabulary and experimentation of media. Students will be assessed on Content, Organization, Style and Fluency. The sketchbook is a representation of the student and their ability to learn. Sketchbooks will be reviewed every Friday and assessed at Midterm and Final. See the class web page for specific details. Grading PracticesStudents are permitted to revist past projects for resubmission. This can be done before or after school or even during SMART Start. Grades are a reflection of students ability to follow project guidelines and work consistency in the classroom. All projects require a certain level of problem solving and the grading rubric evaluate's the student's ability to arrive to a solution according to their abilities. All grades are discussed with the student through written and oral feedback all the way up to the project's final submission. Please review the various categories of the grading rubric. Interim ReportsEach student is given an Interim Report. They are handed out every three weeks with the exception of Grade Reports at the end of every quarter. Interim Reports are a form of communication between teacher, student and parents. They are intended to raise awareness about grades and progress. Please be using SPAN on a weekly basis at a minimum. It is the committment of myself to have grades up to date. Should there be a descretion about grades the issue should not be addressed last minute. Student always have the option for resubmitting projects for an improved grade, but cannot resubmit for late projects. |
